How one-way car rental works in Montenegro
A one-way rental lets you collect the car at one pickup point and return it at another, so you never double back. The network covers both airports and the towns around the Bay of Kotor, and any of them can be the collection or the drop-off. There is no minimum rental period and the full fleet stays available whichever combination you choose.
A one-way booking usually carries a relocation fee that depends on the distance between pickup and drop-off. It is often nothing for short hops between bay towns, and higher for airport-to-airport or coast-to-interior runs. The exact fee for your car and route is calculated and shown in the booking widget before you confirm, never added afterwards.

All collection and drop-off points
Every point below can act as either the collection or the drop-off. The full fleet is available at the same daily rate and the same insurance tiers; the only thing that changes is whether the operator adds a relocation fee, and many charge nothing for a short one-way between bay towns.
Airports
Both airports work as one-way collection or drop-off points, and most one-way rentals begin or end at one of them. Tivat Airport sits right on the coast beside the bay, the closest start for Kotor and the towns around it. Podgorica Airport is inland, the more convenient end for an off-season flight or an open-jaw trip in one airport and out the other.
Inner Bay of Kotor
At the head of the bay, Kotor is the main hub, with Perast and Risan along the northern shore and Prcanj and Orahovac on the western side. Tivat sits across the water beside the airport. A one-way between any of these is usually the cheapest of all.
Western bay
Toward the bay mouth, Herceg Novi is the western hub, with the spa town of Igalo beside it and the quieter shore villages of Bijela and Djenovici along the way. Each one works as a collection or drop-off point.
Lustica peninsula
Across the water from Tivat, the Lustica peninsula adds a handful of pickups: Krasici and Radovici near the best sandy beaches, the modern marina resort of Lustica Bay with its own pickup, and Rose out at the bay entrance.
Beyond the bay
Trips that carry on past the bay can pick up or drop off further out. Budva anchors the riviera about 40 minutes south, and Podgorica, the capital, is the inland hub and the off-season airport. Neither is the focus of a Bay of Kotor one-way, but both work as ends when your route runs beyond Kotor.
What is not supported
Cross-border drop-offs are not available. A car rented in Montenegro must be returned to a Montenegro pickup point; you cannot drop it off in Dubrovnik, Trebinje, Tirana or anywhere else across the border, even if you crossed during the rental with a permit.

Is there a minimum rental period for a one-way booking?
No. A one-way rental carries no extra minimum-day requirement; the same one-day minimum that applies to standard bookings applies here. You can pick up in the morning and drop off the same evening at a different point.
How is the drop-off fee calculated?
The operator sets it, usually based on the distance between pickup and return points. The booking widget calculates the exact fee for the car and route you choose and displays it before payment.
Can I drop the car off in Dubrovnik or another country?
No. Cross-border drop-offs are not supported; the car must be returned to a Montenegro pickup point. The common workaround is to return it at Tivat Airport or in the bay and take a transfer or bus across the border for an onward flight.
Does the one-way fee affect my deposit or insurance?
No. The one-way fee is separate from the security deposit and from your insurance tier. The deposit is held the same way regardless of pickup or drop-off, and the four insurance tiers are unchanged for one-way bookings.
Can I change the drop-off location after pickup?
The drop-off is set at booking. Changing it mid-rental needs the operator’s approval and a recalculated fee; contact them on the number on your rental agreement if your plans change.
